Guatavita Lake and Zipaquira Salt Cathedral tour (Shared tour)

Lake Guatavita is where the El Dorado legend was born. The Muisca people threw gold and emeralds into the water as offerings, and it was that custom which fired the imagination of the conquistadors for centuries. The lake is still just as quiet today, set inside a green crater.

In the afternoon we go 180 metres underground, into the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, carved inside a mountain of salt pushed up by the Andes. It is regarded as the first wonder of Colombia, and you understand why the moment you walk through the first tunnel.

It is a long, full day: two places that each explain, in their own way, where this country comes from.

Schedule

• Tuesday to Sunday.
• Departure between 7:00 and 8:00 am.
• Duration: 10 to 11 hours.

• We pick you up at your hotel and drop you off at the same place afterwards.
